Haryana Roadways Bus Hits Pedestrians, One Dead

A tragic accident occurred in Gurugram's Sector-37 area on Friday when a Haryana Roadways driver-training bus ran over four pedestrians, resulting in one fatality and minor injuries to the others. The bus also collided with several parked vehicles along the roadside.

Incident Details

The trainee bus driver fled the scene immediately after the incident, leaving the bus abandoned. Police from the Sector 10 police station arrived promptly upon receiving information, secured the body, and sent it for postmortem examination.

According to police officials, a trainee was practicing bus driving in a Haryana Roadways vehicle to obtain a heavy vehicle license. The bus was taken to Sector-37 and reportedly turned towards the Pace City-2 industrial area. During the maneuver, the trainee driver misjudged the vehicle's clearance and ran over pedestrians walking on the roadside.

Casualties and Injuries

Amid the chaos, one individual was crushed under the rear tire of the bus and died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Ravi Sarkar (55), a native of West Bengal. Other pedestrians who scrambled into gaps between parked vehicles to escape sustained minor injuries.

Inspector Dilbagh Singh, SHO of Sector-10 police station, stated, "We have seized the bus from the spot and are searching for the accused driver. The driver will be arrested soon."

Investigation Underway

The police have launched a search operation to apprehend the fleeing trainee driver. Further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
