The Punjab and Haryana high court has summoned the Hisar superintendent of police to appear in person before the court on June 10 in connection with an alleged police excess case. The court also directed the state director general of police to submit an affidavit detailing the action taken against the officers accused in the matter.
Case Background
The directions were issued on a petition filed by Mohali-based advocate Amit Duhan. In his petition, Duhan alleged that personnel of the Hisar crime investigation agency unit unlawfully entered his residence located in Nayagaon, Mohali, Punjab, and later initiated retaliatory action against him.
The petitioner claimed he was served a notice to join a police investigation on June 14 in connection with a first information report registered at Nayagaon police station on December 16, 2025, for an incident that allegedly occurred on November 30, 2025. Duhan contended that the notice was a countermeasure following his legal challenge against the police officials before the high court.
Court Proceedings
During the proceedings, the court was informed that five police personnel allegedly entered the advocate's residence without adhering to the proper legal procedure. The high court expressed concern over the alleged misconduct and sought a detailed response from the state police authorities.
Next Hearing
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for June 10, on which date the Hisar superintendent of police is required to appear in person. The court has also asked the state DGP to file a comprehensive affidavit outlining the steps taken against the officers involved.
