A local court in Hisar has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for the murder of his 68-year-old father in a case dating back nearly five years. District and Sessions Judge Alka Malik convicted Sandeep, a resident of Satrod village, and also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

Background of the Case

According to the prosecution, the Sadar police registered a case based on a complaint filed by Jaipal, a resident of Putthi Samain village and brother of the deceased, Wazir Singh. In his statement, Jaipal revealed that Wazir Singh had retired as a Class IV employee from the Hisar Cantonment about eight years ago. The accused, Sandeep, was married but had frequent disputes with his wife, who eventually moved to her parental home. He worked as an auto-rickshaw driver.

Discovery of the Crime

On June 9, 2021, around 11 am, Jaipal received information about a foul smell coming from Wazir Singh's house. Upon reaching the spot with family members, he found his brother lying dead on a cot inside a room, with a head injury and bloodstains.

Investigation and Trial

During the investigation, it emerged that Wazir Singh was allegedly killed by his son during a drunken altercation. The police gathered evidence and presented it in court. After a thorough examination of the evidence, the court found Sandeep guilty of murder.

Verdict and Sentence

The court convicted Sandeep under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and awarded life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh. The judge emphasized the severity of the crime, noting that killing a parent is an act of extreme moral turpitude.
