Howrah District Magistrate P Deepappriya officially took over as the chief administrator of the Howrah Municipal Corporation (HMC) on Wednesday, following a directive from the state government. The civic body had been functioning without a permanent head for the past six months. Upon assuming charge, Deepappriya held a meeting with the acting HMC commissioner, Prosenjit Chakraborty, along with senior officers and engineers of the corporation.
