The door-to-door house listing process for the 2027 Census in Indore district will commence on May 1. Following the launch of the self-enumeration facility on April 15, approximately 7,500 residents have already submitted their details online. This facility will remain available until April 30.
Listing Timeline and Coverage
The house listing will continue until May 30. The district has been divided into 5,931 blocks, comprising 3,861 urban and 2,070 rural blocks. Around 6,000 enumerators have been appointed and trained to cover an estimated 10 lakh constructions identified during the initial numbering process.
Administrative Sectors
To ensure effective management, the district has been categorized into 42 administrative sectors, including 22 urban zones, 10 tehsils, eight municipal councils, and the Mhow Cantonment Board. Residents who have completed self-enumeration must provide their ID numbers to visiting officials for verification.
Fully Digital Model
This census marks a transition to a fully digital model. Under the "Bring Your Own Device" (BYOD) framework, enumerators will use their personal smartphones to record data. The administration has specified technical requirements for these devices, including Android version 12 or iOS 15 and above, with at least 8 GB of free storage. The mobile application is designed to function offline, with data automatically syncing to the central server once an internet connection is established.
Operational Measures
The administration has restricted leave for all involved officials to ensure the timeline is met. Given the projected heatwave in May, enumerators have been advised to conduct field visits during the early morning and evening hours. The final population count is scheduled for the second phase, which will take place from February 1 to February 28, 2027.
