Indore Demolishes Three Dilapidated Buildings Before Monsoon

The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) carried out a demolition drive on Saturday, targeting three dilapidated structures along Jawahar Marg to mitigate potential accidents ahead of the monsoon season.

Details of the Demolished Buildings

The three structures included a G+3 residential building that had severely deteriorated over time, a G+1 building found to be structurally unstable, and a crumbling balcony along with a parapet wall of another G+3 building. These structures posed significant risks to public safety, especially with the approaching heavy rains.

IMC Commissioner Kshitij Singhal stated, "Ahead of monsoon, we have marked such structures that are in dilapidated condition. The same are being demolished to avert any accident." The civic body has been proactive in identifying and removing hazardous buildings to ensure the safety of residents and passersby.

Pre-Monsoon Preparations

The demolition is part of a broader pre-monsoon preparedness plan by the IMC. The corporation has been surveying old and unstable buildings across the city, prioritizing those in high-traffic areas. Officials emphasized that the operation would continue in the coming weeks to cover all identified risky structures.

  • G+3 residential building: Severely deteriorated condition
  • G+1 building: Structurally unstable
  • Balcony and parapet wall: Crumbling, attached to a G+3 building

The IMC urged citizens to report any other dilapidated buildings in their neighborhoods to prevent potential tragedies. The monsoon season typically brings heavy rainfall, which can weaken already fragile structures, leading to collapses. The civic body's timely action aims to avoid such incidents.
