The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) carried out a demolition drive on Tuesday, razing a ground-plus-three-storey (G+3) building in the South Toda area for violating the sanctioned building plans.
Violations Identified
According to Zone 11 building officer Gitesh Tiwari, the illegal construction spanned approximately 3,000 square feet and belonged to landowner Shafi Sheikh. An inspection revealed significant deviations from the approved map. Rooms had been constructed on the ground floor in the area designated for parking. Additionally, the mandatory margin open space (MOS) at the front of the property had been encroached upon, violating municipal bylaws.
Legal Notice and Non-Compliance
The IMC had previously issued a legal notice to the property owner, granting a hearing opportunity and a 15-day grace period to voluntarily remove the illegal portions. When the owner failed to comply within the stipulated timeframe, the corporation proceeded with the demolition.
Demolition Operation
The demolition was executed using excavators and earth-moving machines. A police force from two local stations accompanied the municipal team during the operation to ensure law and order. The action underscores the IMC's commitment to enforcing building regulations and curbing unauthorized constructions in the city.
