Indore: In a decisive move to enforce fire safety regulations, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) sealed eight commercial establishments on Saturday for failing to meet mandatory fire safety standards. The action was part of an ongoing city-wide inspection drive targeting commercial, institutional, and high-rise buildings across all municipal zones.
Inspection Details
During the inspections, civic officials evaluated fire safety infrastructure, including fire extinguishers, alarm systems, and hydrant networks. Establishments found operating without fire safety equipment or using non-functional systems were issued notices outlining necessary corrective measures.
Sealing Operations
The civic body initiated sealing operations after the managements of these establishments failed to install or repair the required firefighting equipment within the stipulated time frame. IMC commissioner Kshitij Singhal emphasized that building operators bear full responsibility for installing and maintaining functional firefighting equipment.
“The municipality will continue to take strict punitive action against any violations to guarantee regulatory compliance across the city,” Singhal told TOI.
