Nashik: The Jalgaon police, under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Shrikant Dhivare, have initiated a comprehensive drive to compile criminal dossiers across all 36 police stations in the district, excluding the cyber police station. The campaign was launched on Saturday, aiming to create an updated and thorough database of criminals.
Details of the Dossier Campaign
History-sheeters, habitual offenders, individuals involved in bodily and property offences, eve-teasers, and those against whom preventive action has been taken are being summoned to police stations to fill out specific forms. SP Shrikant Dhivare stated that the police have designed a form to capture complete information about criminals already on police records.
Information Collected in the Form
The form includes extensive details such as the criminal's family background, Aadhaar and PAN card numbers, property details, vehicle ownership and registration names, social media accounts, physical identification marks, tattoos, friend circle, past crimes and their current status, specific modus operandi, area of operation, addictions, debts, and more.
Objectives of the Database
The primary aim is to maintain an updated and comprehensive criminal database at every police station, enabling swift information exchange between stations when a crime occurs. The collected data will assist police in seizing criminals' assets and taking legal action against wanted or absconding offenders based on their property and other traced details.
Furthermore, the database will help newly transferred officers and personnel quickly access information and physically identify local criminals. Since police officers are frequently transferred, incoming staff often require time to familiarize themselves with the local criminal landscape. This initiative aims to bridge that gap effectively.
