Legal Awareness Programme Held in Jhansi for Senior Citizens' Rights
Jhansi Legal Awareness Programme for Senior Citizens

Jhansi: A legal awareness and literacy programme was organized here on Monday to mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, with a focus on educating senior citizens and law students about the rights and welfare of the elderly. The event was conducted as part of the welfare initiatives being implemented by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) for senior citizens.

Key Highlights of the Programme

The speakers emphasized that any form of abuse, neglect, or harassment against senior citizens is not only a punishable offense under the law but also contrary to basic human values. They urged people to treat elderly family members with dignity, care, and affection rather than leaving them isolated and vulnerable.

Free Legal Aid Services

DLSA official Adil Jafri provided detailed information about the free legal aid services available for senior citizens. He explained how elderly individuals can access these services to address issues related to property, maintenance, and other legal matters.
