Jhansi Police Seize 350 kg Ganja, Four Arrested

Jhansi: A joint team of the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and local police apprehended four individuals attempting to smuggle 350 kilograms of ganja (cannabis), valued at approximately Rs 1.75 crore, on Monday. The authorities also seized two trucks used for transportation and eight mobile phones from the suspects.

Operation Based on Tip-Off

Acting on a specific intelligence input, the joint team intercepted the two trucks. During a thorough inspection, sealed sacks containing ganja were discovered cleverly hidden between boxes of incense sticks. The incense sticks were used to mask the pungent odor of the contraband, preventing detection.

Identities of the Accused

The arrested individuals have been identified as Munnalal Jha, a resident of Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, along with Balgovind Jha, Sanjay Agarwal, and Sanjay Gaur, all from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. All four have been booked under Sections 8, 20, 29, and 60 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They have been remanded to judicial custody.

According to police records, Munnalal Jha has multiple criminal cases pending against him. The consignment was reportedly brought from Odisha and was intended for supply to various parts of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Official Statement

SSP Jhansi, BBGTS Murthy, confirmed that the ganja was sourced from Odisha and was to be distributed across several districts in MP and UP. He praised the joint team for successfully intercepting the shipment and reiterated the commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the region.

The police continue to investigate the network behind this smuggling operation.
