SRINAGAR: As part of the ongoing 100-day 'Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan' (Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Campaign), the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a series of anti-drug operations and awareness programs across multiple districts on Wednesday.
Urine Tests and Rallies
In Kulgam district, police conducted rapid urine drug tests on drivers plying on the national highway. Meanwhile, an anti-drug rally was organized in Pulwama district's Awantipora area. A shikara rally was also held on Manasbal Lake in Ganderbal district to spread the message against drug abuse.
Interactive Sessions in Handwara
In Kupwara district's Handwara, police held interactive sessions for students, focusing on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug abuse. Several awareness programs were also conducted in Baramulla district.
Destruction of Poppy Crops
In a concerted effort to curb drug production, police destroyed illicit poppy crops in Sopore, Anantnag, and Baramulla districts. Additionally, multiple cases were filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act against those involved in drug-related activities.
