Kolkata: Indradeb Bhattacharya, a 51-year-old joint secretary rank officer in the agricultural marketing department, who fell from the fourth-floor stairwell balcony of O Block at Khadya Bhavan on Monday, remained unconscious and in critical condition on Tuesday as well.

Doctors at SSKM Hospital stated that he was still "unstable." A hospital official reported on Tuesday, "He is on a ventilator and his blood pressure is on the lower side. His overall condition remains very critical."

The incident has raised concerns about safety protocols in government buildings. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fall. Colleagues and family members are anxiously awaiting updates on his condition.
