A two-day special enforcement drive against the commercial use of private vehicles commenced at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow on Tuesday. On the first day of the campaign, which operated from 5 am to 5 pm, transport authorities issued challans to 39 vehicles and seized two vehicles. Among the total challans, 11 were specifically for the commercial use of private vehicles, and one such vehicle was impounded.
"These vehicles will be blacklisted, and action will be initiated through the concerned registering authorities to convert them into commercial vehicles as per rules," stated Prabhat Pandey, Lucknow division RTO (enforcement).
Conversion Opportunity for Vehicle Owners
Vehicle owners can legally convert private vehicles for commercial operations by paying only a 2.5% difference in one-time tax, according to the Transport Department. "One-time tax is applicable to taxi and other commercial vehicle operations as well. After depositing the differential tax amount, owners can get their vehicles converted into the commercial category and obtain the required permit. This will allow them to use their vehicles for commercial purposes without facing enforcement action," explained Prabhat Pandey.
