Maharashtra Govt Transfers Over 10 Senior IAS Officers

The Maharashtra state government on Tuesday transferred several senior IAS officers in key departments, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco). Around a dozen bureaucrats were transferred after the state cabinet meeting.

Key Transfers Announced

IAS officer Dr. Ashwini Joshi, who was serving as additional municipal commissioner in the BMC, has been appointed as additional metropolitan commissioner in the MMRDA on a newly created post. She has been replaced by IAS officer Prajakata Verma, an officer of the 2001 batch.

Additional metropolitan commissioner Ashwin Mudgal was posted as managing director (VC & MD) of Cidco, replacing Vijay Singhal, who is now posted as CEO and officer on special duty for the Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP).

IAS officer P. Velrasu was transferred as CEO of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and posted as principal secretary (Forest). An IAS officer of the 2002 batch, Velrasu was posted as MIDC CEO in August 2024. He has been replaced by Deependra Kushwaha, an IAS officer of the 2006 batch. Kushwaha, who was serving as development commissioner, has been replaced by Kadambari Balkawade, an IAS officer of the 2010 batch. Balkawade was currently serving as the commissioner (Family Welfare) and Health Services and Mission Director for the National Health Mission (NHM).

Sanjay Katkar, who was managing director of Maharashtra Information Technology Corporation, has been posted as commissioner (Family Welfare) and director, NHM.

SRA CEO Mahindra Kalyankar was holding additional charge as officer on special duty for the DRP at the moment.

Pending Appointments

A senior official said while several transfers were initiated on Tuesday, some top posts like that of additional chief secretary (ACS) housing and urban development (UD-1) were yet to be filled. At the moment, ACS Aseem Gupta is holding charge of both the housing and UD-1 departments.

Currently, ACS Milind Mhaiskar was holding charge of the forest department. Zenith Chandra Donthula has been posted as chief executive officer, Zilla Parishad, Gondia.
