Varanasi Traffic Advisory: Malviya Bridge Night Closure for Repairs from June 14
Malviya Bridge Night Closure: June 14 to Aug 13, 10pm-6:30am

The Varanasi traffic police have issued an advisory on Thursday, urging commuters to use alternative routes for night travel between the trans-Ganga and cis-Ganga areas via the Malviya Bridge. The restriction will be in effect from June 14 to August 13, every night between 10:00 PM and 6:30 AM, to facilitate special repair work on drainage spouts and expansion joints of the upper deck of the over 135-year-old double-decker bridge.

Complete Prohibition on Movement

During the repair period, the movement of all vehicles and pedestrians between Namo Ghat and Padav on the Malviya Bridge will be completely prohibited. The bridge is located on the Mohansarai–Deendayal Upadhyay (Mughalsarai) GT Road.

Diversion Routes for Vehicles

Vehicles traveling from Padav crossing towards Namo Ghat and Bhadaun Chungi via the Malviya Bridge will be diverted from Padav. They will reach their destinations via Ramnagar, Samne Ghat, and the Vishwasundari Bridge.

Vehicles traveling from Golgadda trisection towards Padav via the Malviya Bridge will be diverted after taking a U-turn from Basanta College Mod. They will proceed via the Lakarmandi flyover, Lahartara, Bhikharipur, Amra-Akhri NH-19, and the Vishwasundari Bridge.

Alternative Route Option

Alternatively, vehicles can proceed from Lakarmandi via the Light Signal crossing, Chaukaghat, Police Line crossing, and Sandaha.
