Man duped of Rs 10.50 lakh in Jewar land scam

A resident of Kanpur was allegedly duped of Rs 10.50 lakh by a property dealer on the pretext of arranging a plot near Jewar Airport and promising high profits. The Rawatpur police have filed a report against three individuals, including the main accused.

Complaint Details

In his complaint, Jitendranath Shakya, a resident of Indrapuri Shardanagar, stated that Yogesh Kumar of village Syaraul in Aligarh visited his home with two associates in May 2025. Claiming to be a property businessman, Yogesh proposed to arrange a plot near the airport.

Payment Transactions

On June 15, 2025, the victim paid Rs 51,000 online for a 500 square yard plot. A total amount of Rs 10.50 lakh was transferred in several transactions from the accounts of Jitendranath, his daughter Aakanksha, and his son-in-law Avinash Kushwaha into the accounts of the accused and his firm.

RTI Revelation

Later, details received through RTI revealed that the land in question was the notified land of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). When the victim asked for his money back, the accused allegedly abused and threatened him.

Police Action

Rawatpur Inspector Kamlesh Rai stated that on the basis of the complaint, a report has been registered against Yogesh Kumar and two other individuals, and the case is under investigation.
