Mandya Minister Champions Education as Society's Foundation at Ambedkar Event
Mandya district minister N Cheluvarayaswamy delivered a powerful address on Tuesday, emphasizing that education serves as a formidable power and the primary guiding light for every individual. He asserted that a truly equitable and balanced society can only be constructed through widespread learning and intellectual development.
Celebrating Ambedkar's Legacy and Constitutional Vision
Speaking at the 135th birth anniversary celebrations of national leader BR Ambedkar, the minister highlighted the enduring significance of the written Constitution provided by Ambedkar. He noted that this foundational document ensures security, equality, and fundamental rights for all classes of society, forming the bedrock of India's democratic framework.
Cheluvarayaswamy expressed immense national pride in the global recognition of India's Constitution. He urged the youth to view education not merely as a tool for employment but as a critical means to understand the country's rich history, cultural heritage, and constitutional values.
Government Initiatives for Educational Access and Social Welfare
The minister reiterated that the government is actively implementing various programmes to ensure universal access to education, identifying it as the only sustainable path to building a balanced and progressive society. He detailed ongoing efforts to remove barriers to learning and promote inclusivity across all segments of the population.
In addition to educational policies, Cheluvarayaswamy mentioned the state's ‘Five Guarantee' schemes, which are significantly impacting social welfare. He revealed that these initiatives are helping approximately 70% of the population live more peacefully and securely, thereby embodying Ambedkar's vision of self-reliance and social empowerment.

The commemorative event was presided over by MLA P Ravikumar Ganiga, who described Ambedkar as a universal teacher whose principles and teachings are celebrated and respected globally, from Canada to Europe. Ganiga praised Ambedkar's contributions to social justice and legal frameworks.
In a significant announcement, Ganiga allocated Rs 2 crore for the completion of Ambedkar Bhavans in the district. He stressed the importance of the administration continuing to operate strictly within constitutional frameworks to ensure peace, order, and the protection of citizens' rights.

Zilla panchayat CEO KR Nandini administered the constitutional preamble during the ceremony, reinforcing the commitment to democratic values and legal principles. This was followed by the honouring of various community achievers, recognizing individuals who have made notable contributions to social development, education, and public service.
