Mohali MLA launches public participation initiative for civic improvements

Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh on Monday launched a public participation initiative, inviting residents and government employees to submit suggestions for improving civic infrastructure.

Meeting with Municipal Officials

During a meeting with the MC commissioner, mayor, senior deputy mayor and deputy mayor at the MC office, the MLA said suggestions would be welcomed from everyone. He encouraged people to submit their ideas in writing on issues such as sanitation, garbage collection and disposal, maintenance of parks, road infrastructure, parking management and other aspects of urban development.

Recognition and Rewards

Kulwant Singh said the best suggestions would not only be implemented but their contributors would also be publicly recognised and suitably rewarded.

“Through this initiative, we want to understand how deeply people relate to Mohali and how much they think about its development and improvement. Good ideas can come from anyone, regardless of their position or background,” he said.

Context of Civic Concerns

The move comes at a time when residents in several parts of the city have raised concerns over civic issues, including improper garbage disposal, overflowing waste collection points, deteriorating road conditions, inadequate parking spaces in commercial and residential areas, and the need for better upkeep of public parks and green belts.
