The Madhya Pradesh High Court has granted bail to Pratim Bhoomika, who was arrested for the alleged killing of a spotted deer and cooking its meat. A vacation bench of the High Court, presided over by Justice R K Vani, allowed the bail plea after hearing arguments from both sides.
Case Background
Bhoomika was taken into custody by Katni police on March 1, 2026, and a case was registered under sections 2, 9, 39, 51, and 52 of the Wildlife Protection Act. The allegations stated that he had killed a spotted deer and subsequently cooked its meat.
FSL Report Inconclusive
During the hearing, Bhoomika's counsel argued that the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report failed to conclusively identify whether the cooked meat belonged to a spotted deer. The report itself stated that the animal species could not be ascertained from the cooked meat sample. This point was crucial in securing the bail.
Justice Vani, after reviewing the case details and the FSL findings, granted bail to the accused.
