The Mumbai Traffic Police have announced significant restrictions for motorists in central Mumbai on May 1, 2025, as the Maharashtra Day Parade is scheduled to be held at Shivaji Park. These measures will be in effect from 6 am to noon, and commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly.
Road Closures and One-Way Traffic
The following traffic regulations will be implemented:
- Keluskar Road South and Keluskar Road North will be completely closed to all vehicular traffic, except for invitees.
- SK Bole Road will operate as a one-way route from Siddhivinayak Junction to Portuguese Church Junction.
- Vehicular entry will be restricted from Siddhivinayak Junction to Yes Bank Junction on Swatantraveer Savarkar Road.
- Traffic from Siddhivinayak Junction via Veer Savarkar Road must turn right at Siddhivinayak Junction, proceed through SK Bole Road, take a left at Portuguese Church, then continue via Gokhale Road, Gadkari Junction, LJ Road, and Raja Bade Chowk towards the western suburbs.
- Entry from Yes Bank Junction to Siddhivinayak Junction will be restricted. Vehicles must turn left at Yes Bank Junction, then proceed through Pandurang Naik Road, take a right at Raja Bade Chowk, and continue via LJ Road, Gadkari Junction, and Gokhale Road towards South Mumbai.
No-Parking Zones
Parking will be strictly prohibited on the following roads:
- Keluskar Road South and North
- Pandurang Naik Road
- NC Kelkar Road from Gadkari Chowk to Kotwal Garden
Parking for Official Vehicles
Designated parking for police, BMC, and PWD vehicles will be available at:
- Veer Savarkar Smarak Hall
- Vanita Samaj Hall
- Mahatma Gandhi Swimming Pool
- Kohinoor PPL, Dadar
Parade Route March
The parade will commence from Shivaji Park ground through Gate No. 5, proceed along a left turn onto Keluskar Road North, continue to C Ramchandra Chowk, take a left onto Veer Savarkar Road, then head south to Keluskar Road South junction, and finally turn right to end at Narali Baug.
Parking Instructions for Citizens Without Car Passes
Citizens who do not possess car passes are advised to park their vehicles at the Kohinoor Parking Lot operated by BMC at Dadar.
Motorists are strongly advised to avoid the above routes between 6 am and noon. Signage will be placed at key locations, and police personnel will be deployed to guide both motorists and pedestrians.
