Nagpur Schools Face Penalty for Failing to Submit Transport Data to HC
Nagpur Schools Face Penalty for Not Submitting Transport Info

Nagpur: With the next hearing scheduled for June 18, several schools in Nagpur district have yet to submit mandatory information sought by the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court regarding transport committees and vehicles used to ferry students. Through orders issued on February 16, March 6, and March 17, the High Court directed all primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools to furnish records of transport committee meetings held over the past two years, along with details of buses and other vehicles engaged in student transportation.

Scope of the Directive

The directive covers schools affiliated with the State Board, CBSE, ICSE, and other recognized boards across all mediums of instruction. Non-compliant institutions face a penalty of ₹50,000. The Divisional Deputy Director of Education, Dr. Madhuri Savarkar, has issued a public notice directing headmasters, principals, and school managements across the district to submit the required information along with affidavits before the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court.

Clarification on Compliance

Education department officials said the court has sought details of transport committee meetings conducted during the last two years and a comprehensive list of vehicles used to transport students. Officials also clarified that merely submitting documents to the school education department does not constitute compliance. Several schools have been approaching the department with the required papers, but the information must be filed before the High Court in the prescribed format.
