Nashik: Commuters are being compelled to alter their travel routes due to the ongoing road construction from Ashok Stambh to Ramwadi, which has been underway for the past three days. This has led to severe bottlenecking at the Ahilyabai Holkar Bridge.
Massive Traffic Surges
Over the past three days, significant traffic surges have been observed on the road from Ashok Stambh to Raviwar Karanja, as well as from Malegaon Stand toward Raviwar Karanja via the bridge.
Similar civic works are being executed near the Siddheshwar Temple along the road connecting Ashok Stambh to Ramwadi Road. Consequently, motorists traveling from Gangapur Road toward Ramwadi, Malegaon Stand, and Panchavati are taking a detour through Raviwar Karanja. Likewise, motorists heading from Ramwadi Road toward Ashok Stambh are also being funneled onto the Ahilyabai Holkar Bridge, exacerbating the congestion.
Police Response
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Advita Shinde stated that while traffic congestion has increased, no major gridlocks or prolonged traffic jams have been reported. She acknowledged that simultaneous roadworks across the city are causing these bottlenecks. She added that traffic police personnel and wardens have been deployed at construction sites and affected intersections to manage the flow of vehicles.
Commuters' Experiences
Meanwhile, commuters noted that traffic has been moving at a snail's pace across the city for the past few months. Heavy traffic congestion is also being witnessed daily on Trimbak Road. A major section of the road heading toward Trimbak Naka has been closed for vehicular movement, forcing the adjacent narrow roads to handle two-way traffic.
