New Coimbatore Commissioner Pledges Key Focus Areas

COIMBATORE: Katta Ravi Teja, who assumed office as the Coimbatore corporation commissioner on Wednesday, has pledged to prioritize key areas such as drinking water supply, solid waste management, and monsoon preparedness. The 2020 batch IAS officer expressed confidence that his previous experiences would enable him to deliver the best outcomes for the city.

Key Focus Areas and Public Grievances

Speaking to reporters, Teja stated, "My previous experiences would definitely help me in delivering the best to this city. The key focus areas like drinking water, solid waste management and monsoon preparedness will be looked into, and more improvements will be made." He also assured that all public grievances would be resolved at the earliest possible opportunity.

Background and Previous Roles

Ravi Teja, a Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer, succeeds M Sivaguru Prabakaran, who has been appointed as the Ramanathapuram district collector. Teja is the 30th commissioner of the Coimbatore corporation. In his earlier roles, he served as an assistant collector (training) in Tiruvannamalai district, gained experience in central government schemes as an assistant secretary in the ministry of agriculture and farmers’ welfare in New Delhi, and acted as a sub-collector in Tindivanam, Villupuram district. Prior to his current appointment, he was the regional deputy commissioner (North) for the Greater Chennai Corporation.
