Noida Residents Alarmed Over Deteriorating Roads

Residents of several Noida sectors, including 41, 71, and 122, have voiced serious concerns over the deteriorating condition of roads and related infrastructure, with problems persisting for nearly a year. Complaints submitted to the Noida Authority highlight a range of issues, from pothole-ridden stretches to inadequate drainage systems.

Pothole Menace in Sector 41

Rajiv Ajmani, a resident of J Block in Sector 41, submitted a plea urging officials to immediately repair a severely damaged road stretch from house numbers J-47 to J-77. Residents claim over a dozen potholes have emerged on this stretch, leading to accidents and injuries, especially for cyclists. Ajmani stated that the problem has persisted for over six months with no repairs conducted. As the monsoon approaches, the situation will only worsen if the stretch is not repaved, he warned.

Partial Repairs in Sector 122

Bhushan Sharma, general secretary of the RWA of PK Abadi Block, reported that patchwork repairs have begun on the main road in Sector 122 after nearly a year. However, only eight to ten patches have been fixed so far, leaving much of the road still in poor condition.

Waterlogging and Waste Issues in Sector 71

Sanjay Shukla, RWA general secretary of Shiv Shakti Apartments, highlighted that roads in Sector 71 are regularly broken and waterlogged. “Road repairs have not been carried out in our sector for a long time. As a result, potholes posing accident threats are a concern here,” Shukla said. Other issues include waste gathering along roadsides and unauthorized parking taking over seven vacant lots across four blocks. Shukla also noted that broken tiles and toilets are in urgent need of repairs, and newly constructed drains lack proper slopes, leading to waterlogging concerns.

Official Response and Delays

Officials attributed the delay in resurfacing work to the unavailability of bitumen. Namita Chaubey from the Noida Highrise Federation, representing 100x sectors, echoed these sentiments and stated that work would commence once materials are available. “Till then, temporary repairs will be undertaken,” Chaubey added. Despite these assurances, residents continue to voice concerns, urging officials to prioritize civil infrastructure repairs to ensure the safety and comfort of residents and commuters.
