Vijayawada: The transport department typically conducts fitness inspections for school and college buses. However, this year, the NTR district police commissionerate has initiated a special inspection drive to ensure the safety of students ahead of the new academic year in the city.

Traffic police officials conducted extensive checks on buses operated by educational institutions across the city to verify whether they are complying with mandatory safety norms and vehicle fitness regulations. The inspections focused on vehicle fitness, emergency safety measures, and driver qualifications.
Detailed Inspection at SRK College
As part of the drive, traffic officials inspected buses belonging to SRK College at Patamata. During the inspections, authorities checked whether the buses possessed valid fitness certificates, insurance, and pollution certificates. Officials also verified the availability of emergency exits, first aid boxes, and fire extinguishers in working condition.
Police further examined whether drivers possessed valid heavy vehicle driving licences and had sufficient driving experience to operate school and college buses safely.
