Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan announced today that more than 67,000 drug peddlers have been arrested since the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government assumed power in the state. The statement was made during a press conference in Chandigarh.

He stressed that individuals involved in supplying illegal substances will face stringent legal action. The Speaker emphasized that societal contribution is paramount to completely eradicate the menace of addiction.

Appeal to Citizens

He appealed to the public to act as responsible citizens and share information regarding drug peddling with the police. "Citizens must report any suspicious drug-related activities to law enforcement immediately," he said. Sandhwan assured that the police will handle informant details with strict confidentiality. Role of Parents and Youth

Urging parents to be highly vigilant and supportive during their children's developmental years, Sandhwan said parents must spend quality time with their children to keep them away from bad habits. He advised the youth to adopt sports into their daily lifestyles to foster physical wellness. "The younger generation must channel their energy into academics and winning sports medals," he said.

The Speaker's remarks come as part of a broader campaign to combat drug abuse in Punjab, which has been a significant concern for the state government.
