A tragic incident occurred in Kalyanpur village, Firozabad district, on Tuesday, where a 30-year-old pregnant woman and a 24-year-old farmer lost their lives due to electrocution. The victims were identified as Nilesh Devi Yadav and Vijay Sharma.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, Nilesh Devi Yadav came into contact with a live iron pipe attached to a tin shed outside her residence while washing utensils. The pipe had become electrified due to a fault. Upon hearing her screams, neighbor Vijay Sharma rushed to rescue her but also suffered a fatal electric shock.
Immediate Aftermath
Family members and villagers quickly transported both victims to a nearby hospital, where medical staff declared them dead upon arrival. Nilesh Devi is survived by her five-year-old son, Anmol, and her husband, Jitendra Kumar Yadav, who was working at a factory when the accident occurred. Vijay Sharma, the youngest of four brothers, was unmarried and assisted his elderly father with farming activities.
Police Response
DSP Amrish Kumar stated that the bereaved families declined a post-mortem examination and expressed unwillingness to pursue legal action. After completing inquest proceedings and other necessary formalities, the police handed over the bodies to the families for last rites.
This incident highlights the dangers of electrical faults in rural areas, where safety measures are often inadequate. Authorities urge residents to report any exposed wires or faulty electrical installations immediately to prevent such tragedies.
