Ludhiana: Twenty graduates from the College of Fisheries, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), have been appointed as fishery officers in the Punjab Department of Fisheries. The appointments were finalized through a competitive recruitment drive conducted by the Punjab Subordinate Services Selection Board (PSSSB).
Appointment Ceremony in Chandigarh
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann handed over the appointment letters to the newly selected officers during a state-level ceremony held in Chandigarh. The Chief Minister urged the officers to utilize their professional expertise to advance the fisheries sector in the state.

Mann emphasized the need for holistic development in the sector. He instructed the officers to provide essential capacity building, technical hand-holding, and utility services to industry stakeholders. His vision aims to transform Punjab's fisheries into a thriving industry.

Dr. JPS Gill, Vice-Chancellor of GADVASU, and Dr. Meera D Ansal, Dean of the College of Fisheries, expressed confidence in the new appointees. They stated that the officers will serve as a valuable resource for the department in achieving Punjab’s long-term fisheries development goals.
