Ratlam tops MP's digital crime management system rankings for May 2026
Ratlam tops MP digital crime system rankings May 2026

Indore: While technology-driven policing has often been associated with larger urban centres, Ratlam has built one of the state’s most efficient digital crime management systems. The district secured the top position among ‘A’ category districts in Madhya Pradesh’s Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS) rankings for May 2026.

The ranking, released by the State Crime Records Bureau, stems from the district’s growing reliance on technology to streamline everything from FIR registration and investigation to charge-sheet filing. Officials said that all police stations in the district were extensively using the CCTNS platform, enabling end-to-end online processing of criminal cases while improving record management and accountability.

The digital ecosystem has also strengthened policing on the ground. Quick access to criminal records through CCTNS has helped police trace and arrest absconding criminals and permanent warrant holders more effectively. Integration with the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) has further enabled investigators to access case details from other districts and states, speeding up action in inter-state and multi-jurisdictional cases.

DIG Nimish Agarwal said that the ranking was achieved through error-free and timely data entry, backed by continuous monitoring at multiple levels. He said that districts were evaluated on their compliance with various CCTNS modules, with points awarded based on performance across these parameters. “Ratlam’s consistent monitoring and adherence to the prescribed modules helped it secure the top position. Similar efforts are being made in Neemuch and Mandsaur districts to improve their rankings,” he said.

The DIG said that Ratlam police had also expanded use of platforms such as e-Sakshya, e-Prosecution, e-FSL and e-Investigation. Through e-Sakshya, crime scenes were being systematically documented through photographs and videography, creating stronger evidentiary records for court proceedings. Digital prosecution and forensic systems have reduced delays in legal scrutiny and forensic reporting, while tablets issued for e-investigation have pushed digital workflows into field operations.

Officials said that online summons, warrants, medico-legal certificates and postmortem examination reports have significantly reduced paperwork and improved efficiency. The district’s performance has shown a steady upward trend, securing first place in March 2026, second place in April and regaining the top position in May among ‘A’ category districts.
