Rourkela Police Bust Drug Racket, Arrest Eight Including Six Women

Rourkela police on Saturday dismantled a drug trafficking network operating in the Plantsite area, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals, among whom six were women. The operation led to the seizure of 220 grams of heroin valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, along with more than Rs 2.5 lakh in cash.

Press Conference Details

Addressing a press conference, Superintendent of Police (Rourkela) Nitesh Wadhwani stated that the raid was executed under the banner of the 'Nasha Mukta Odisha Drive'. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Plantsite police, reinforced by three platoons of force, conducted a pre-dawn raid at Meenapada on Mahatab Road, falling under the jurisdiction of the Plantsite police station.

Accused and Seized Items

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rosan Khatoon alias Shanti (55), Farida Khatoon (50), Md. Imran Aalm (28), Md. Alam (24), Nuresha Khatoon (55), Rahima Khatoon (58), Manisha Khatoon (25), and Madhu alias Nuresha Khatoon (59), all residents of the Plantsite police station limits. The accused were allegedly involved in supplying narcotic substances to the general public, including school and college-going students, for unlawful financial gain. In addition to the drugs and cash, police also confiscated three mobile phones from the accused. The total cash seized amounts to Rs 2,70,240.
