Seven Arrested in Bettiah Flesh Trade Raid, Minor Rescued

In a late-night operation on Sunday, police in Bettiah arrested seven individuals, including four girls and a house owner, on charges of running an alleged flesh trade racket in a residential area under the Kalibagh police station in West Champaran district. The arrests were made following a tip-off about the exploitation of girls for prostitution at a specific house, officials said on Monday.

Joint Raid Operation

A coordinated team comprising personnel from Kalibagh, Nagar, and Manuapul police stations, along with the Quick Response Team (QRT), conducted the raid. During the operation, four girls and two local youths were detained from the premises. The house owner was also taken into custody.

Minor Among Detained

Sadar-I SDPO Ajit Kumar stated that preliminary investigations suggest one of the detained girls may be a minor. “The age of the girls is being verified. Three are residents of West Champaran, while one is from Gorakhpur. Her address is also being verified,” he said. The police are currently verifying the ages and addresses of all detainees.

Investigation Underway

Police officials noted that the precise role of each detained person is yet to be determined, and further interrogation is ongoing. A case has been registered against all seven accused at the Kalibagh police station for their alleged involvement in the flesh trade. “All arrested persons have been forwarded to jail. Further investigation is in progress,” the SDPO added.

The operation highlights the continued efforts of local law enforcement to crack down on illegal activities in the region. Authorities are also coordinating with other districts to verify the background of the girl from Gorakhpur.
