Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C Sudarshan Reddy has announced that the Election Commission will conduct a special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state, with the schedule to be released shortly. He urged voters to complete the pre-SIR linking of their names with the 2002 SIR electoral roll and keep required details ready.
Objective of the Revision
The CEO stated that the revision aims to ensure no eligible citizen is left out and no ineligible person remains on the rolls, particularly addressing issues such as migration, duplicate enrolments, and non-removal of names of deceased voters.
Matching Present Rolls with 2002 SIR Data
Sudarshan Reddy explained that booth level officers (BLOs), assistant electoral registration officers, and electoral registration officers are currently matching electors in the present roll with either their own names or the names of their relatives in the last SIR held in 2002.
Voters can retrieve 2002 SIR details from the CEO Telangana website or the ECI voters' portal by using the "search by elector details" option. Polling station-wise electoral roll PDFs are also available online. Those unable to find their own names in the 2002 roll may search for details of their parents or grandparents and fill those details in the enumeration form, the CEO added.
No Documents Needed During Enumeration
The CEO clarified that no document is required during the enumeration phase. Notices will be issued only to electors whose names cannot be matched or linked with the 2002 SIR roll, asking them to provide supporting documents to prove eligibility.
The Election Commission has suggested documents such as government or PSU identity cards, pre-July 1, 1987 government or institutional records, birth certificate, passport, educational certificate, permanent residence certificate, forest right certificate, caste certificate, NRC wherever applicable, family register, government land or house allotment certificate, and Aadhaar as per ECI directions issued on September 9, 2025.
Sudarshan Reddy urged all electors to meet their polling station BLO or ERO and complete the linking with the 2002 SIR details to avoid inconvenience during the revision period.
