Three family members killed in truck accident on highway

A tragic road accident on Saturday morning claimed the lives of three members of a family from Haryana on the Delhi-Haridwar National Highway in Muzaffarnagar's Chhapar area. The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Kumar, 40, his son Vansh Kumar, 10, and nephew Narender, 20. According to police, a speeding truck allegedly struck their motorcycle from behind, leading to the fatal incident.

Details of the Accident

Sandeep Kumar, a barber by profession, was traveling to Haridwar with his son and nephew when the accident occurred. Chhapar Station House Officer (SHO) Mohit Sehrawat stated that the family had tied a bag to the motorcycle's rear carrier. Investigations suggest that the bag may have become entangled with the truck, potentially causing the collision. Sehrawat added that a case would be registered after receiving a formal complaint from the family.

Aftermath and Police Response

The truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, which resulted in a significant traffic jam stretching nearly one kilometer on the highway. A large crowd gathered at the site. Passers-by alerted the police, who promptly arrived and sent the bodies for postmortem examination. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ravi Shankar confirmed that authorities are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify the truck and trace the absconding driver.
