Kanpur: A tragic road accident on the Bundelkhand Expressway in Banda late Sunday night claimed the lives of three friends. The incident occurred when a speeding motorcycle lost control and collided with an unidentified vehicle traveling ahead. All three occupants of the bike succumbed to their injuries.
Victims Identified
The deceased have been identified as Sanjay (30), son of Ram Kripal; Ram Babu (35), son of Ram Kumar Patel; and Arvind (35), son of Lalwa Raikwar. All three were residents of Korari village under Bisanda police station in Banda district.
Details of the Accident
The accident took place around 12:10 am on Sunday midnight. According to sources, the three friends were heading to Chitrakoot for Amavasya. Their motorcycle was traveling at high speed on the Bundelkhand Expressway when it suddenly went out of control and struck a vehicle moving ahead. The impact was extremely severe, breaking the motorcycle into pieces. Two of the riders died instantly at the scene, while the third, who was critically injured, succumbed to his injuries at the Badausa Community Health Centre.
Police Response and Investigation
Upon receiving information about the incident, police and rescue teams promptly arrived at the location. The police took custody of the three bodies and initiated the next stage of investigation. After post-mortem procedures, the bodies will be handed over to the family members.
CO (Traffic) Saurabh Singh stated that the preliminary assessment indicates the crash was caused by over-speeding and loss of control. He also noted that the bike riders were not wearing helmets, which exacerbated the severity of their injuries.
Search for the Unidentified Vehicle
Police are conducting a detailed inquiry into the matter. Efforts are underway to trace the unidentified vehicle that struck the motorcycle and fled the scene. Officers are also reviewing surveillance camera footage from nearby areas to gather leads.
