A tragic road accident on the GT Road near Salempur Buddha Vihar in Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj district claimed three lives and left one person injured. According to police, an allegedly speeding dumper truck rammed into a tractor from behind, causing the tractor to overturn.

Details of the incident

Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinod Kumar stated that Arjun Diwakar, a contractor from the Iglas Police Station area in Aligarh, was returning to his village on a tractor. He was accompanied by his 16-year-old son Ritik and 25-year-old associate Vishnu. As the tractor reached near Salempur Buddha Vihar on the GT Road in Chhibramau, a speeding dumper coming from behind hit it with immense force, causing the tractor to overturn.

Fatalities and injuries

An 18-year-old motorcycle rider, Radha Mohan Katheria from Aseh village in Kannauj, was also struck by the dumper and died on the spot. Ritik and Vishnu succumbed to their injuries at a hospital, while Arjun Diwakar is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Chhibramau. Chhibramau Kotwali in-charge Kapil Dubey confirmed that the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

Police action

The police swiftly arrested the dumper driver and seized the vehicle. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident, with authorities emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules to prevent such incidents.

This accident highlights the dangers of overspeeding on highways and the importance of road safety measures. Local residents have expressed grief over the incident and demanded better traffic management on the GT Road.
