A tragic road accident in Tumakuru district on Thursday claimed the lives of a 39-year-old homemaker and her parents, leaving her husband and two children injured. The incident occurred on the Hiriyur-Challakere highway when their Toyota Crysta collided with a Maruti Omni that made a sudden turn.
Victims and Injured
The deceased have been identified as R Soumya, 39, and her parents, Ganeshwar Reddy, 68, and Indiramma Reddy, 65. Soumya's husband, Ravi Kumar, a software engineer, and their children, Charit Reddy, 6, and Charvi Reddy, 10, sustained injuries and were admitted to a hospital. The family hailed from Kadapa.
Details of the Accident
According to police, the family was returning from Mysuru when the accident occurred around 1 pm. Shortly before the crash, they had stopped at Huliyar bus stand to drink tender coconuts. Ravi Kumar was driving the vehicle towards Hiriyur. At the Kenkere Gollarahatti junction, the Maruti Omni suddenly turned in the middle of the road, causing the Toyota Crysta to ram into it and overturn.
An investigating officer stated that the sudden turn by the Omni led to the collision. The impact was severe, resulting in the deaths of Soumya and her parents at the scene. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances of the accident. Further details are awaited.
