A shocking incident has occurred in Tirupati district, where five members of a family died in quick succession under mysterious circumstances. The deceased have been identified as Mohan (42), his mother Chandrakala (65), wife Haritha (33), son Koushik (14), and daughter Harini (12). The family resided in Venkatakrishnapalem in Narayanavanam mandal.
Background of the Family
According to police, Mohan owned a cement shop in Puttur, while his wife Haritha ran a tailoring business and a beauty parlour. Relatives and neighbours stated that the family had no financial problems, marital disputes, or any other known issues. The sudden sequence of events has left everyone in shock.
Events Leading to the Tragedy
On Wednesday afternoon, Mohan informed his brother-in-law Balakrishna, who worked at the cement shop, that he was going home to bring lunch for them. However, Mohan never returned. When Balakrishna tried to contact him, Mohan's phone was switched off, causing anxiety. Balakrishna then went to Mohan's house and discovered Haritha and Chandrakala dead, hanging from dupattas.
Shaken by the discovery, Balakrishna approached the Narayanavanam police and informed them about the deaths and Mohan's unreachability. He and police personnel then went to Koushik and Harini's school in Puttur to check on them. School authorities revealed that Mohan had picked up the children earlier, claiming that his brother-in-law had died. This raised police suspicions, and they began tracking Mohan's mobile phone, even as relatives expressed concerns for the children's safety.
The Final Incident
Meanwhile, Mohan took Koushik and Harini, who were in classes 9 and 7 respectively, to Vepagunta railway station. The three were reportedly run over by the Chennai-Kachiguda Superfast Express on Wednesday night. Upon receiving an alert from the station master and railway police, Narayanavanam and Puttur police visited the spot and confirmed the deaths of Mohan and his two children.
Investigation Underway
Puttur DSP Ravi Kumar stated that the Narayanavanam police have registered a case and sent the bodies for postmortem examination. He emphasized that the postmortem reports of Haritha and Chandrakala would be crucial in unraveling the mystery. Police are intensifying the probe by scanning Mohan's bank accounts, the family's social media accounts, and call records. They are also trying to ascertain Mohan's mental health condition prior to the incident.
The entire district has been left in shock by this tragic event, and authorities are working diligently to uncover the reasons behind these untimely deaths.
