Trichy IT Park Techies Demand Streetlights for Safety

Trichy: IT and ITES professionals commuting to their offices inside Elcot Trichy IT Park in Navalpattu near Trichy International Airport have raised concerns over safety lapses as the road lacks adequate streetlights.

Unaddressed Concerns

Representations by locals and techies to add streetlights are going unaddressed, as the 100-feet road linking the IT park with Trichy-Pudukottai National Highway falls under the jurisdictions of village panchayats that lack adequate funds for maintenance.

Safety Threat at Night

Many employees are returning home late at night, and stray cattle crossing and sleeping on the 100-feet road are not visible due to poor illumination. The road is smooth, but lack of lights is a serious safety threat for the workers, said R Thiruvenkadam, a social activist from Allur.

Petition Submitted

Reiterating the demand to add more streetlights on the 100-feet road, Thiruvenkadam submitted a petition to the district collector on Monday.

CSR Funds Suggested

Elcot Trichy IT Park is surrounded by Navalpattu, Kumbakudi and Gundoor panchayats. Activists urged the district administration to utilize corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds to erect streetlights.
