Nagpur: In a shocking incident early Wednesday morning, a speeding truck allegedly rammed a police barricade near Wadi on the Nagpur-Amravati highway, leaving a traffic constable seriously injured. The incident occurred between 1:15 AM and 1:30 AM when the traffic police were conducting an inspection drive within the jurisdiction of the Wadi police station.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to police officials, the truck was being driven recklessly when it crashed into the barricade. The impact caused the barricade to hit Constable Santosh Kangulwar, who was on duty at the checkpoint. The constable sustained severe injuries and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The truck driver, identified as Laxman Pahadkar (47), a resident of Takli in Wardha, attempted to flee the scene after the collision. However, alert motorists who witnessed the incident intercepted the truck and apprehended the driver, later handing him over to the police.

Legal Action Taken

Based on a complaint filed by the police, an offense has been registered against Pahadkar under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. The accused is currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
