In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Punjab Police arrested two individuals in Phagwara and recovered 500 grams of heroin from their possession. The arrests were made during a routine checking operation near the bus stand area late Tuesday evening.
Details of the Arrest
The accused have been identified as Gurpreet Singh and Harpreet Singh, both residents of Phagwara. Police officials stated that a patrolling team intercepted the duo based on a tip-off. During the search, the contraband was found concealed in a bag they were carrying. The estimated street value of the seized heroin is around Rs 2.5 crore.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the local police station. The police are interrogating the suspects to trace the source of the drugs and their network. Preliminary investigations suggest the heroin was procured from across the border.
