Two Brothers Die in Well Rescue Attempt in Rajasthan

In a tragic incident in Rajasthan's Alwar district, two brothers lost their lives after jumping into a mud-filled well to rescue a woman late Monday night. The incident occurred around 9 pm in the Jurhaara police station area of Deeg district, according to police.

Sequence of Events

The incident began when Mahindra, a woman, allegedly jumped into the well following a domestic argument. Her husband, Ravindra Valmiki (25), who had returned home intoxicated, immediately jumped in to save her. He was followed by his younger brother, Rohit (21).

According to police, the two men managed to lift Mahindra out of the sludge and push her to safety. However, they became trapped in the swamp-like conditions inside the well. Due to low oxygen levels and the presence of toxic gases, both brothers suffocated to death.

Rescue Efforts

Villagers, alerted by the screams, rushed to the spot and pulled all three individuals out. They were taken to a hospital, where doctors declared Ravindra and Rohit dead. Mahindra, who sustained serious injuries, is currently undergoing treatment.

Locals reported that the well was old and filled with mud, which made rescue efforts extremely difficult. The well had accumulated toxic gases over time, contributing to the tragedy.

Background

Ravindra, a laborer, had married Mahindra in 2022. She had moved to her in-laws' home in Badipur six months ago. Rohit, who worked at a factory in Palwal, had returned home the same day.

The incident highlights the dangers of entering confined spaces like wells, which often lack oxygen and may contain harmful gases. Authorities have urged people to avoid such rescue attempts without proper equipment.
