Kolkata/Kalyani: Two tragic drowning incidents were reported on Saturday, claiming the lives of four individuals in separate locations. In Khardah, two boys drowned in a pond while taking a bath. Meanwhile, in Nadia's Santipur, two youths were swept away while bathing in the Bhagirathi river.
Details of the Incidents
The first incident occurred in Khardah, where two boys, whose identities are yet to be disclosed, were bathing in a local pond when they reportedly ventured into deeper waters and drowned. Local residents attempted to rescue them, but unfortunately, the boys could not be saved.
In the second incident, two youths were bathing in the Bhagirathi river in Santipur, Nadia, when strong currents swept them away. Rescue efforts are underway, but authorities have not confirmed if they have been found.
These incidents highlight the dangers of swimming in unsupervised water bodies, especially during the monsoon season when water levels and currents can be unpredictable.
