Two Held with 26.5 kg Poppy Husk in Bhopal

Bhopal: The Misrod police on Tuesday apprehended two young men and confiscated over 26.5 kilograms of poppy husk (dodachura), valued at approximately Rs 1.25 lakh, during a narcotics crackdown near Aakriti Aqua City on the city's outskirts.

According to police officials, acting on a specific tip-off, a police team arrived at the area near the entrance of Aakriti Aqua City. Two suspects carrying large backpacks were observed standing along a kuccha road adjacent to the colony gate. Upon noticing the police team, both individuals allegedly attempted to escape toward nearby fields but were chased and successfully apprehended.

The accused have been identified as Mohit Kir, 24, and Aryan Kir, 19, both residents of Ghat Pipaliya village in Raisen district. During the search, officers reportedly recovered poppy husk from the backpacks carried by the duo. The seized contraband weighed 12.599 kg from Mohit's possession and 14 kg from Aryan's bag, bringing the total recovery to 26.599 kg, inclusive of the bag weight. The contraband was seized as evidence.

A case has been registered against both accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police are currently interrogating them to determine the source and intended destination of the seized narcotics. Further investigation is ongoing.
