Two Men Held for Hoarding 40 LPG Cylinders in Chennai

Chennai: Two men, who hoarded 40 commercial and domestic LPG cylinders intended for sale in the black market, were arrested from a house on Chithirai Kulam Street in Thiruvanmiyur on Friday evening.

Police identified the suspects as Neelamegam, 78, and his son Kumar, 41. Acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a search at the residence and recovered commercial and domestic LPG cylinders stored without authorization. Police said they sold domestic cylinders for 3,000 rupees and commercial cylinders at higher rates, collecting an additional 6,000 to 7,000 rupees per cylinder above the prescribed price.

During inquiry, the accused's role in hoarding and illegal sale was confirmed, as the duo had scribbled the details of their consignment transported to various eateries and restaurants. The case was handed over to the Civil Supplies CID and the men were remanded in judicial custody.
