Upalokayukta Orders Hostel Shift After Poor Conditions

Mandya: Upalokayukta Justice B Veerappa on Friday ordered officials to relocate a government hostel to a better facility within 15 days after a surprise inspection exposed deplorable living conditions. During visits to the Dr BR Ambedkar Girls’ Hostel and the Valmiki Hostel at Bandigowda Layout, students raised concerns about inadequate basic amenities, unhygienic surroundings, poorly maintained toilets, and substandard food. They also expressed dissatisfaction with the hostel administration.

Immediate Action Ordered

Taking serious note of the grievances, Justice Veerappa directed officials to address the issues promptly. He warned government staff against corruption, negligence, and irresponsible public service. The Deputy Commissioner Kumara and Superintendent of Police Shobharani were present during the inspection.

Case Disposal During Visit

During his two-day visit to Mandya, Justice Veerappa disposed of 124 cases out of 256 complaints received. The swift action underscores the commitment to improving public services and accountability.
