UT Administrator Kataria Inspects Snehalaya, Nari-Niketan

Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria conducted a comprehensive review of several welfare institutions in the city, focusing on the living conditions, education, and overall development of the residents. His visit underscored the administration's commitment to social welfare and rehabilitation.

Focus on Child Care and Safety at Snehalaya

Accompanied by Adviser H Rajesh Prasad and other senior officers of the UT administration, Kataria first paid a visit to Snehalaya for Girls in Sector 15. During his interaction, he spoke directly with the children to understand their well-being, educational progress, and daily routines. The Administrator took a detailed round of the Home to personally inspect the facilities provided to the children residing there.

He meticulously reviewed the arrangements related to care, safety, nutrition, and holistic development. Kataria appreciated the dedicated efforts of the staff members engaged in running the home, acknowledging their role in creating a supportive environment.

Emphasis on Meaningful Activities at Women's Homes

The Administrator's inspection tour extended to other critical facilities within the same premises. He visited Nari-Niketan, Shakti Sadan, the After Care Home for Girls, and the operational One Stop Centre. At each location, Kataria interacted with the inmates, inquiring about their daily lives and challenges.

A key emphasis during these interactions was on ensuring that all inmates are engaged in meaningful and productive activities. The Administrator highlighted the importance of such engagement for rehabilitation and personal growth, directing the staff to facilitate skill-building initiatives.

Review of Infrastructure at Blind Institute

The final leg of the visit took Gulab Chand Kataria to the Blind Institute in Sector 26. Here, he assessed the existing infrastructure and sanitation facilities. Officials briefed him on the functioning of the institute, including the Braille Lipi learning systems used for education.

Kataria also visited the computer laboratory, where he observed visually challenged students using computers with the aid of specially designed software. He commended the efforts being made towards the education, skill development, and rehabilitation of visually challenged persons, noting the institute's vital role in empowering its students.

The series of visits concluded with the Administrator instructing officials to maintain high standards across all welfare homes and institutes. He stressed continuous monitoring to ensure that the residents receive the best possible care and opportunities for a brighter future.
