Woman Dies by Suicide on Mumbai Tracks Over Knee Pain

MUMBAI: A 56-year-old woman died by suicide on the railway tracks between Patel and Currey Road stations on Thursday, reportedly fed up with a knee ailment. Police stated that she penned a suicide note on her arm. An accidental death case has been registered at the Dadar Government Railway Police (GRP) chowky.

Around 1:30 pm on Thursday, the Currey Road station master informed the GRP about a woman being hit by a train between Currey Road and Parel stations. She sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sion Hospital. During treatment, she succumbed to her injuries around 3:10 pm. She was identified as Anandi Veer. Her body was sent for an autopsy, and her family was informed.

Police said Veer lived at Currey Road with her family. She had been suffering from a knee ailment and experienced severe pain. Authorities noted that she had written a suicide note on her left arm which read: "I'm fed up of my life and I'm ending it on my own accord. My family is not responsible for it."

Her body was handed over to her family for last rites after the autopsy.
