Woman Fights Off Robber in Ludhiana, Gold Chain Saved

A woman on a home visit from Greece had a narrow escape from a robbery in Ludhiana on Thursday afternoon after fighting off a masked assailant who tried to snatch her gold chain.

Incident Details

Raj Kaur, 45, and her sister were walking to a bank in the Daresi area when a man on a motorcycle intercepted them. He alighted from his vehicle and attempted to seize Raj Kaur's 20-gram gold chain.

She managed to grab the attacker's hand, holding on even as she was knocked to the ground. When her sister intervened, the assailant pushed her over as well.

Escape and Police Response

The struggle ended only when the sisters' screams alerted nearby residents, prompting the man to flee on his motorcycle. Daresi police registered an FIR on Friday.

While the investigators have CCTV footage of the masked suspect, Sub-Inspector Gurmeet Singh said the images were unclear. Police are reviewing video evidence from additional security cameras in the neighbourhood to trace the man's escape route.
