Woman Begins New Chapter After 14 Years in Vadodara Protection Home
In a deeply emotional and heartwarming ceremony in Vadodara, a woman who had resided at a women's protection home for nearly 14 years embarked on a fresh start by getting married on Tuesday. The event, held in the Nizampura area, was graced by several senior government officials, marking a significant milestone in her life journey.
From Shelter to Matrimony: Deepa's Journey
The bride, identified as Deepa, had been living at the protection home for over a decade before consenting to marry a civil engineer. The match was facilitated after the engineer submitted his biodata to the institution. Authorities conducted a thorough background verification, medical examinations, and an interview process, with the home's overseeing committee ultimately approving the union.
Dignitaries and Support at the Wedding
Keyur Rokadiya, the MLA from Sayajigunj and a former mayor of Vadodara, along with his wife, performed the traditional 'kanyadaan' ritual during the wedding. Rokadiya had volunteered to assume the father's role after the wedding date was confirmed. The couple generously gifted the bride essential household items to aid her in beginning her new domestic life.
Under a state government scheme, Deepa received financial assistance of Rs 50,000 specifically for the wedding ceremony. Additionally, she was provided with a National Savings Certificate valued at Rs 50,000 and a fixed deposit of Rs 50,000 to ensure future financial stability.
The ceremony saw the presence of numerous dignitaries, including Narasimha Komar, the police commissioner of Vadodara; Anil Dhameliya, the district collector; Mamta Hirpara, the district development officer; former minister Rajendra Trivedi; and former MP Ranjan Bhatt.
